A.G.M. 2021
The Nautical Institute, Hong Kong branch conducted its AGM on 17th
Sept 2021 at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club at Causeway Bay. What would
have been a routine annual event,
had special significance this time around for being a first in person
event for the branch in over 15 months since the restrictions due to the
COVID-19 pandemic came into effect.
The
AGM was attended by over 24 members. The election of the office bearers
and committee members was held during the AGM. The attending members
thanks the Outgoing Chairman Capt
Amit Bhargava and Secretary Capt Aalok Sharma for the contributions for
the branch activites. The incoming office bearers were also welcomed :
Chairman : Mr. Hans Langsrud ; Vice Chairman : Capt Aalok Sharma and
Secretary : Capt Kaushik Roy
With
restrictions for public gathering being relaxed in the city, the branch
also took full advantage of same by conducting a small gathering for NI
members and supporters of the
NI Hong Kong Branch. Senior representatives from the various
organizations who have sponsored and supported the branch’s activity,
gracefully agreed to attend the event.
The
attendees included representatives from Hong Kong Marine Department and
Invest HK. Shipping companies such as Anglo-Eastern Ship Management
Ltd. ; Caravel
Group Limited , Chellaram Shipping (HK) Ltd ; China Energy Ship
Management Co. Ltd. ; Fleet Management Ltd. , KC Maritime Hong Kong
Limited; Landbridge Ship Management (HK) Ltd., Pacific Basin Shipping
(HK) Limited; Seaspan Ship Management Ltd., Wallem Group,
Wah Kwong Shipping Agency Co Ltd. Industry organizations such The
American Club Hong Kong; Branscombe Marine Consultants Ltd.; Gard (HK)
Ltd. ; Hong Kong Shipowners Association; International Chamber of
Shipping; Steamship Mutual Management (Hong Kong) Ltd
and WISTA International among others.
The
event went beyond the scheduled time by over an hour and was a welcome
change for all. Here’s hoping for more in person events in the future
and wishing the worst of the pandemic
is behind us.
