Capt. Gustaf Gronberg

Star Cruises
1974. He graduated with a Master’s License from Stockholm’s Maritime
Academy in Sweden in 1985 and was given his first command on a 2400
passenger ferry operating between Finland and Sweden at the age of 32 years.
Captain Gronberg has been with Star Cruises since the founding of the
Company in 1993. As the Vice-President, Nautical, he has been the head of the
Nautical Department overseeing all Nautical, Safety and Security issues since
1994. Today, Star Cruises is operating 11 cruise ships in South-East Asia with a
total of 6500 crew.
Star Cruises is the first cruise company to be accreditated by the
Panamanian Authority and Captain Gronberg was the driving force behind Star
Cruises Onboard Training Center’s accreditation by the Panamanian Authority
to carry out and certify STCW training courses.
Star Cruises is the first Cruise Company to be awarded the Lloyds List
“Salute To Youth & Training” Award and again Captain Gronberg headed the
team involved in the above competition.
